Final Three:

Big Bear
Runyons
Bonefish Mac’s

Now that we have the top three restaurants, Approximately 53 Food Agents will have three weeks to go to each restaurant and taste each Prime Rib. This is where my style of determining The Best Of is far superior than any other blog or newspaper. The food agents spend money in the businesses and support the community. Their mission will start on Friday, June 2, 2017 and end at midnight Friday, June 23, 2017.

The Food Agents will report back on which one was the best and the restaurant with the most votes wins. The winner will receive a nice plaque and the title of THE Best Prime Rib in Coral Springs, Fl.

The grading for the Agents will be simple and will be done by points. 1 being the lowest with 5 being the highest. 1-5 points for bang for your buck. Was the price you paid worth what you were served? 1-5 points for correct temperature. Did they get how you wanted cooked correct? Lastly, 1-5 points for overall taste and quality of the meat. Was the cut tough, full of fat with no meat or perfectly balanced.

Fifteen points is the highest score. If all three places receive 15 points the agent will pick their favorite and explain why.

This should be interesting.

The Dan I Cook Food Agents Are Ready To Mobilize Again!

We had our second Food Agent meeting in one of my favorite hometown places, Carrabbas. We had a great time as usual and I raffled off a few items to make things interesting. The Proprietor, Alli Kai Roche, was an outstanding hostess. Alli sent out a bunch of food for us to sample and our bartender Matt kept the drinks flowing as we voted on our next item to judge for the Best Of Series in Coral Springs, Fl.

The Selection

The agents nominated different food and drink items they would like to judge. I think we had about 20 items on the whiteboard ranging from best sushi to best Margaritas to best chicken fingers. We narrowed it down to the top three, which were: best steak, burger, and martini. Since several agents couldn’t make the meeting, we carried out the final vote in our Closed Facebook Group Page. (By the way, if you are interested in being a Food Agent send me a message.)

The winner was Best Steak. Since “Best Steak” is a broad term, I decided on the cut of meat we will judge. That cut will be…….Prime Rib.

How Will We Find The Top Three

I have stated this numerous times….I don’t believe in polls. They are popularity contests.

My nomination style will be different because if you are going to nominate a place I want to know why it’s great…not good, but great. You can nominate restaurants on my blog, Facebook Page, Taste of Coral Springs Facebook Page, and Coral Springs Foodie Facebook Page.

Once I have the nominees, I will present them to my food agents and the list will be narrowed down to three joints. I will have final say and approval on the top three. When we have the top three restaurants, the Food Agents will have three weeks to go to each restaurant and taste each Prime Rib. About Prime Rib

Prime Rib (not to be confused with the grading of meat as “Prime”) can be a beautiful looking/tasting piece of meat. Most folks know this cut as a standing rib roast. Many people have this cut at home for a special occasion or on the holidays. Having it in a restaurant is a treat because… duh, you don’t have to cook it and getting the temperature or seasoning right is not your problem!

My perfect Prime Rib has a nice coating of seasonings on the crust with minimal fat outside and inside. I like it prepared medium rare with sides of horseradish and a jus.

I have a couple of new agents, David L , manager of Rob’s Bageland in Tamarac, and Carl C, manager of Doris’s Italian Supermarket in Coral Springs, Fl.  David was so excited about Steak being chosen by the Food agents!!  Both men should know a thing or two about steaks. By the way, I’m a big fan of Carl…If any of y’all remember Del Pesto Italian Market in Margate, he was the manager there for years until they closed. Man I miss that place!

Let’s see it folks, who has the best Prime Rib in Coral Springs, Fl?
