Recap of Dining with Dan I Cook at Arun’s Kichen.

What a meal! We had 13 diners and everyone loved it. Arun, along with his family and staff, rolled out the red carpet for us and even opened 2 hours early for my event. Good thing, because by 3:30p his place had a line out the door LOL.

Since it was Valentines Day I gave each lady a red rose. Arun came out and introduced himself and explained about his passion for his food and the pride he takes with each item. He and his staff explained each dish and we split all the entrĂ©es between 1 and a 4 on his spicy chart. 1 is mild and 10 is Indian Hot…which is damn fukcing HOT! Our menu was as follows:

Foodpalozza! Everyone was stuffed and we had plenty of leftovers.

Foodpalozza! Everyone was stuffed and we had plenty of leftovers.

Dal Soup-Red lentil soup. I love this!
Garlic Naan-Flat bread stuffed with garlic and fresh cilantro
Onion Kulcha-Flat bread stuffed with onions and fresh cilantro
Chicken Makhanl-Butter Chicken Tikka Masala-Chicken pieces roasted in a clay oven folded into a rich sweet creamy tomato sauce with nuts and almonds
Chicken Korma-Chicken cubes cooked in a rich and creamy sauce with nuts and raisins
Chicken Saag-Chicken pieces smothered in a spicy spinach sauce
Lamb Rogan Josh-Lamb cooked in cardamom and onion based curry sauce
Lamb Mint– Lamb cooked with a spiced curry sauce with fresh mint leaves
Pulao Rice-Basmati rice cooked with saffron and Indian herbs

Tikki Masala spice level 8

My favorites were the soup at level 1 (but I would have liked it at a 5), onion naan, rice, chicken saag at level 4, and Tikki Masala at level 8. The Chicken Saag really impressed me. It’s made in a spinach sauce and if you looked at it there is no way in hell you would order it if you never tasted it. I never heard of it or have seen it before so the appearance did not look too appetizing to me. I gave it a try and it was a pleasant surprise. The favors of the sauce with the spinach and Indian spice crushed this dish. I highly recommend you sample it.

Verdict

4 Kingfisher Beers! Excellent vibe, great company, and mind blowing cuisine. Thanks again to my diners! Nothing was free! We all paid for our food, drinks, and tipped on top of it. That’s what you do when supporting businesses in your community! Keep up the great work Arun and I’m glad you are in my community of Coral Springs. Stay Hungry!

Four beers = Outstanding
Three beers = Good
Two beers = OK
One beer = Needs work
Zero beers= Sucks (No beer is never a good thing.)

Side Bar

BTW I tentatively have Applebee’s | Coral Springs, FL | University Dr as my next venue for Dining with Dan I Cook. Yes you heard that correctly. I’ll be meeting with the management team sometime in March to discuss the particulars. Why Applebee’s? Two reasons, they employ folks in our community and they are rolling out new steaks. Word is they are sending staff to train on how to butcher the meat they serve. Plus they are going to install a wood/gas grill. I find that intriguing. If I get this off the ground I’ll post it ASAP. Stay Hungry!

What a great time! Not only was this the best Indian food I have had, but it was just a great meal overall. You can tell a lot of love goes into preparing the dishes because there was not one dish that was mediocre. My favorites by far were the Chicken Saag and Chicken Tikka Masala. My only regret was that my stomach ran out of room. The spice level at a 4 was good, but we did try the 8 on a second helping of the Tikka Masala and it was great. It was one of those slow burns that does not overpower the taste. Bottom line is that I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal.

A Big THANK YOU to Dan for putting this on today!

I was so honored to be asked to be Dan’s V.I.P. I can not thank him enough. Not only have I never attended an event like this, I also have never truly been introduced to Indian cuisine! As that being stated I fell in love with it. Every dish I tried hit me with a returned smile. I will be returning to this place and have already spread good reviews to others! Thank you to the wonderful staff and Dan and everyone that attended. Everyone made it highly enjoyable and anticipate joining for other events!! đŸ™‚
